Jane Fonda started a true fitness craze during the 80s with her iconic workout videos, and her love for fitness isn’t fading away. The iconic actress and activist recently opened up about staying active in her 80s and revealed how her fitness routine changed once she approached her golden years.
Fonda recently sat down with Women’s Health to discuss her approach to working out and her collaboration with her trainer Malin Svensson. She also discussed her four-part series of workouts for Meta Quest’s VR platform Supernatural, which features cardio, boxing, and stretching workouts.
Fonda’s love for fitness is no secret – she started a true craze among the baby boomers during the 80s and 90s with the iconic Jane Fonda’s Workout VHS tapes. They inspired a series of books and audio programs, and she released new fitness videos during the 2010s, aimed at an older audience.
Fonda recently turned 87, but she’s still fully committed to her workout routine. She believes that working out is a choice when you’re younger, but “an absolute necessity” once you get old.
“I don’t credit exercise with longevity – I credit exercise with having a good life. You can live long and be unable to move very well or remain independent. My independence and my ability to still have a good time, which is different from longevity, comes from exercising,” she told Women’s Health.
