We’ve always known that it’s tough being a woman. Aside from societal pressures, economic inequality, and a whole bunch of other stuff, we have a biological clock that ticks of its own accord.

The age at which women settle down and decide to have kids has lowered in the last few decades, going from early 20s to mid-to-late-30s. And, as such, many are choosing to freeze their eggs so that they can be fertilized at a later date when they are ready to embark on that journey.

Last year, Kesha underwent an egg-freezing procedure which resulted in her having to be rushed to hospital. A serious complication had occurred and she was admitted for a 9-day spell following her NYE performance in the Bahamas.

“I almost died in January,” the 36-year-old reveals. “It was horrifying. I just was taking my reproductive health into my own hands. And I stand by everyone doing that and [honoring] your body.”

Thankfully, the “Only Love Can Save Us Now” singer says she now feels like she has recovered from the traumatic ordeal. The experience also taught her to prioritize her mental and physical health, particularly with her autoimmune condition, CVID.

“I learned after my diagnosis that sleep is the most important thing. I took that for granted.”
