The way we approach our workouts completely changed in 2020, including the times when we usually hit the gym. According to ClassPass’s recent study, lunchtime workouts are all the rage right now and they’ll be one of the biggest fitness trends of 2021.

ClassPass reports that lunch break workouts experienced a 67% increase in popularity, with 12 p.m. becoming the most popular time to work out during the week. The American fitness company recorded the increase in several major cities around the U.S. and the U.K., including New York, Los Angeles, and London.

ClassPass attributes this new trend to “a rise in remote work, and the ease of no-shower required virtual meetings.” They’ve also noted that lunchtime workouts aren’t only popular online—12 p.m. in-person classes were more popular than ever with people who returned to the gyms after lockdowns.

According to ClassPass’s study, this time slot is also a huge hit when it comes to digital classes with friends. Things look a little bit different on the weekends when most people prefer working out around 10 a.m., presumably to get the workout out of their way so they could enjoy the rest of the day.
