It’s a pretty common practice to listen to music while working out. After all, it stimulates our minds and emotions in a pretty incredible way, and many find it to be extremely helpful when attempting to complete challenges. This article’s goal isn’t to argue against music in any shape or form. However, we do want to illuminate something else. Here’s why we think you should try not listening to music while jogging outdoors.

Enjoy the Natural Sounds Around You

Music is incredible. No one’s denying that. But once we get into a routine where we always listen to music, it can be sometimes easy to forget all of the other beautiful sounds that we’re missing out on. When jogging outdoors, especially in a natural environment such as a forest trail, there are so many wonderful sounds to hear and take in. Why not take advantage of that?

A Different Kind of Music

It may sound corny, but our opinion is that nature is its own form of music. The rhythm of the wind, the pulsing beat of a woodpecker pecking on a tree. Nature is full of sounds that are not only interesting to hear, but also incredibly therapeutic!
