Mistakes Women Make When Buying a Sports Bra

News flash: If you have any type of breast pain during your workout, you’re likely wearing the wrong sports bra. It’s super important to have a good, supportive sports bra, as it can help reduce the risk of sagging and injury. Before you buy your next bra, here are a few shopping mistakes all women make:

you buy one bra for all workouts

If you’re doing a high-intensity workout one day and a more chill one the next, then you should have more than one sports bra, and not just for the sanitation factor. The type of workout you’re doing dictates what style of sports bra you should wear. A more supportive option is excellent for running or a HIIT workout, whereas one that allows more movement and flexibility is ideal for yoga or pilates.

You purchase only based on the price

Just because a sports bra is inexpensive doesn’t mean it isn’t worth buying. Sports bras can cost anywhere from under $15 to nearly $100, but the price alone doesn’t tell you anything about the fit, the support, or the quality of the material.

You choose the wrong material

One of the last things people think about when buying a sports bra is how it will affect their skin. But that’s a mistake because if you’re allergic or sensitive to certain material, wearing the bra, and sweating could not only irritate your skin but also cause redness, itchiness, and even blisters.

You don’t exactly know your bra size

If you’re still shopping for the same bra size you have fitted for three years ago, it’s time for an update. It’s important that you check your bra size at least once a year, as a woman’s body changes all the time!
