Objects to Use Instead of Weights

What can I use instead of dumbbells? For people who like to work out at home, you’ve probably asked yourself this question at least once. Heading out to a sports store and picking the right weight for you can be time-consuming. Since you’re at home, there is an array of objects you can utilize that can deliver the same amount of impact to your workout as regular weights. Some of these items might seem funny – but hey, they work!

Large Books

Books are found almost everywhere, in your workplace, the library, and even in your own home. Use a large book with a lot of weight to strengthen your arms. This is where your Harry Potter books come in handy! If you don’t have any Harry Potter books, search for the heaviest coffee table book in your house or old school textbooks.

Fruit Bags

Have you just stepped out of the grocery? Why not use that bag of apples or oranges as weights? Not only will you be eating healthy food after, but you’ll also be carrying them as a mini exercise. Before slicing into an apple – consider lifting a couple in a bag a few times.

Got Milk?

Now you can put your used milk jugs to good use – to make your arms stronger! Before chucking that milk jug into the trash, try extending its life span by filling it halfway with water and using it as dumbbells. There are so many creative ways to substitute weights, even empty milk jugs work.
