People are always looking for a new edge when it comes to working out. It’s hard to avoid the fact that we burn out from time to time and we may get to a point where exercising is the last thing in the world we want to do. One thing that people do in order to combat this is listening to music to pump them up, or in some cases… a podcast. But is listening to a podcast during workouts a good idea?

It Doesn’t Have the Same Kind of Energy

Listen, we won’t sugarcoat it for you. If you’re not so well-versed in the podcast industry, you may find it to be a bit bland and dull. You may learn that it lacks the same punch compared to your favorite artists. For people who need a steady kick drum to keep their energy flowing, podcasts probably aren’t for them.

It Has Its Own Charm

However, there’s a different level of charm that you may get from podcasts. Sure, it doesn’t have the same level of energy as music—but in a weird way, that could be exactly what you need when you’re in a mopey mood. Music has the ability to transcend reality at times, while podcasts tend to stay closer to the ground. Listening to actual people talk—sort of like a glorified radio—is sometimes exactly what you need in these moments.
