The 411 on Gym Etiquette

When you first step into a gym you’ll realize that there’s a certain order and it seems like everyone is following it. Despite the lack of signs at gyms that say “Gym Etiquette 101” that’s why we’ve come up with a few tips to keep in mind when visiting the gym.

These rules are pretty basic and they’re hard to forget. With these few rules and tips in mind, you’ll realize that a gym is actually a fun place. And you might even make a friend!

Don’t Use Your Phone on the Equipment

Not only is using your phone considered rude, imagine hearing someone’s phone constantly ringing beside you. The first rule of gym etiquette is to put your phone on silent and preferably away from you. This is where Bluetooth headphones come in handy – you can listen to your music without having your phone near you.

Return After Using

This one’s pretty simple – but a lot of the times people can sometimes leave weights on the floor. This can be a hazard issue, since someone could trip on them. Also, other people might go searching for a certain weight and never find it. Returning equipment after using it helps boost gym etiquette.

Sharing is Caring

Keep a steady routine when using gym equipment and don’t spend more than 30 minutes on a device. Try to change things up by incorporating other practices and maybe offer the used equipment to someone in need. You might just make a friend.
