There is a common misconception that you can’t do ballet as an adult, or that you need to have previous dancing experience in order to do it. The truth is that ballet is literally for anyone, no matter the age—and here are a few good reasons to try it.

Strength

Ballet is so elegant that we often forget how physically demanding it actually is. Practicing ballet is one of the best ways to build strong muscles without stepping into the gym.

Posture

All ballet dancers have incredible posture, that’s why they move with such grace and elegance. Ballet exercises are great for building core strength and improving posture, so they’re really beneficial for people who work desk jobs and spend most of the day sitting.

Improved Energy

We don’t need to read scientific papers to realize that any physical activity is great for improving our mood. Ballet is particularly helpful for boosting energy and fighting fatigue because it’s fun and it increases circulation in a short period of time.

Confidence

Most ballet students say that practicing ballet has improved their confidence and this happens for a variety of reasons. Performing in front of an audience, stepping out of your comfort zone, and spending hours working out in front of the mirror will all lead to improved body image.
