You’ve probably heard a dozen times that fiber is good for you, but do you know why? And do you know how to get enough of it? In order to live a long and healthy life, fiber is definitely a good place to start!

A few key things you should know:

1. Fiber is known for its ability to reduce constipation, but it has other benefits for maintaining healthy digestion as well.

2. It slows the rate that sugar is absorbed into the bloodstream.

3. It helps clean out bacteria!

4. A high fiber diet makes you full very quickly, so you won’t be binging on your secret chocolate stash.

Now that you know the basics of why fiber is so incredibly important, let’s take a look at what you should eat to get enough of it!

First of all: Keep that fruit coming! Eating more fruit like raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries is a great beginning.

Vegetables are also known to be fiber superstars. Green vegetables like artichoke, spinach, zucchini and broccoli should be your go to legumes on a daily basis!

Another very important part of the fiber diet is whole grains like lentils, barley, quinoa and brown rice.

Incorporating some nuts and seeds like almonds, chia seeds, and flaxseeds are definitely recommended!
