A lot of gym enthusiasts feel like they’ll struggle to reach their goals unless they embrace the “more is better” approach to working out. This mindset can do you more harm than good, and here’s why it won’t be beneficial for your physical health and emotional wellbeing.

Overtraining

The “more is better” mindset can lead to overtraining, and there will come a point when your body will tell you you’re going too far. Once that moment comes, you could listen to your body and take a break, because overtraining will put too much stress on your muscles and set you up for injuries.

Struggling with Motivation

There’s a link between overtraining and lack of motivation, especially if you’re still a beginner. If your training sessions are too demanding, you’ll struggle to commit to them, and you might give up pretty fast because you bit off more than you can chew.

Going overboard with your workouts may not only have a negative impact on your gym performance but your life in general. By trying to give it your all at the gym, you may end up putting your sleep, hobbies, and social engagements on the line, and this won’t do you any good in the long run.
