Training for a marathon is easier said than done, and many people jump into it without thinking of the road ahead.

If you want to give it a try, here are a few things you’ll have to take into consideration before doing so.

Proper Training

Running a marathon is not a joke and it’s more demanding than most of the physical activities out there. It’s also extremely mentally challenging, and that’s part of the reason why most people give up somewhere in the middle. Make sure you’re actually committed to this goal and willing to train for a couple of months in order to accomplish it.

Right Equipment

Most people run around 25 miles a week to prepare for their big day, and doing this in your old, beat down running shoes is not an option. Make sure to invest into your gear, because it will literally help you go an extra mile.

Start Small

The marathon has an official distance of 26.2 miles, but you’re not required to go to this distance on your first try. Set realistic goals, and try to complete a half marathon if you’re still not ready to go through the whole race. Make sure to keep a slow place so you wouldn’t burn out on the spot.
