Bikram Yoga is a very specific type of hot yoga. However, you should know that hot yoga is not always Bikram. Here are some things you should be aware of before joining your first Bikram Yoga class.

Dress Appropriately

When getting dressed for your first Bikram yoga class, you should keep in mind the room’s temperature. It gets really hot, so avoid long yoga pants. Instead, wear shorts and a tank top or sports bra to your hot yoga class.

Bring A Change Of Clothes

Always bring a change of clothes with you. You can shower at the studio or at home.

It Might Be Stinky

A bunch of people exercising in a humid room for 90 minutes…well, you would expect for the studio to have a funny smell… right? However, if you are uncomfortable and you just can’t acclimate to the smell, maybe Bikram yoga isn’t for you.

Bring Water And Food

Staying hydrated during a hot yoga class is very important. Take breaks throughout the class and pack a light snack you can eat after class, as well.
