Summer is bringing many delicious sweet treats our way, but that doesn’t mean we should ditch the good old smoothies. You can make them even tastier and more refreshing with these five ingredients.

Ice

Many people put ice in their smoothies all year long, and this ingredient is truly a must during the hot summer months. You can make your smoothies cooler by replacing water or milk with ice.

Watermelon

Watermelon is the unofficial fruit of the summer, and it will make for a perfect addition to your smoothies thanks to its high water content.

Strawberries

Strawberries actually have a lot in common with watermelon—they’re red, delicious, vitamin-rich, refreshing, and almost entirely made of water.

Bananas

Bananas aren’t exactly the first fruit you think of when someone mentions summer, but no smoothie is complete without them.

Mangos

Mangos are an extremely versatile fruit known for its natural sweetness. If you add them to your smoothies, feel free to skip the sugar, stevia, honey, or other sweeteners.

We can't let the mango season pass by in this household without having the obligatory mango shake. You’d imagine lockdown would make this exotic Indian deliciousness hard to come by in Britain but irony hurled itself off a roof top in Oxfordshire when I found a box full of these Alphonso mangoes through friends. Since the mango season started we’ve tried a variety of Indian mangoes this year and now that the season is at its tail-end, I just can’t stop being grateful for its boundless bounty.⁣ ⁣ The mango shake is very easy to make. Grab a couple of really flavoursome mangoes – Alphonso or Kesar will do nicely but that’s just my personal preference. Peel off the skin and cut the flesh into pieces. Discard the seed. Pour a glassful of whole milk into a blender along with a dash of sugar or honey (depending on how sweet you like your drink), chuck in the mango pieces and whiz them up. Garnish with a drop of cream, pistachios or mint leaves and Bob’s your uncle 🙌🏼⁣ ⁣ I am just grateful to see Aarya enjoy mangoes so much this year. The girl clearly knows her fruit and roots ☺️⁣ ⁣ With this, making my second contribution to #keepcalmneataam contest hosted by the lovely ladies @bhukaadd @cooking_day_diaries @i_got_hangryy @masalamojo and @nesa_creations.⁣ ⁣ P.S More mango ramblings and childhood memories on the zanzaneet blog (link in bio) if you wish to indulge further.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #zanzaneet #mangorecipes #dailyfoodfeed #likeforlikes #latergram #mangosmoothie #summersolstice #britishsummertime #britishsummer #photooftheday #foodstyling #plantbased #vegano #summercoolers #summerdrinks #vegano #vegansofig #drinksofinstagram #mango #milkshake #incredibleindia #vegetarian #glutenfree #beautifulcuisines #huffposttaste #foodstagram #ukblogger #myunicornlife #foodblogfeed ⁣ @foodgawker @bbcgoodfood @foodtalkindia @buzzfeedtasty @tastingtable⁣ @wahhindia @tastemadeuk @foodnetworkuk @saveurmag @marathi_food_lover @konkan_bhumi
