There are many misconceptions associated with yoga that may be holding you back from trying out this amazing exercise. Here are the five most common myths and the realities behind them.

I Have to Be Flexible

No, you don’t have to be flexible to start practicing yoga. Yes, it may be easier to nail those poses if you are already flexible, but you can become more flexible over time if you continue practicing yoga.

I Have to Be Thin

Another, no! You don’t have to be thin to join a yoga class; they are all inclusive for all body shapes and sizes.

Yoga is a Religion

Yes, there is a spiritual element to the practice, but yoga itself isn’t a religion.

Yoga is Beyond My Capability

As we said earlier, practice makes perfect. You only need to listen to your body, progress at your own pace, and don’t worry about what others may think about you.

I Don’t Have Time For Yoga

Formal yoga classes are 30, 60, or 90 minutes long. If you can’t dedicate this much time, don’t worry – the internet is full of great videos that can be as short as five minutes long.
