Baked goods don’t typically sound healthy, right? However, if you think there’s no baking without plenty of butter, oil, and eggs, you’ll be happy to know that’s not the case. In fact, you can replace all three of those with one simple, healthy, and cheap ingredient—applesauce. Applesauce gives your baked goods fresh and light taste while keeping them moist so you can reduce or completely eliminate oil, eggs, and butter. Here are the best ways to use it.

Banana Bread

Regular bread is delicious and it can only get better if you add some applesauce. You’ll get a perfect afternoon snack if you regularly crave something sweet.

Muffins

You can make vegan and fat-free muffins using applesauce and plant-based milk instead of dairy, eggs, and butter. They will be absolutely delicious, just make sure to spray some cooking spray so they don’t stick to the mold.

Protein Balls

You can find many different recipes for protein balls and you can basically swap the ingredients for those you like as long as the consistency stays the same so you can make the balls. Applesauce will give them a great flavor and it goes well with all the other ingredients.
