Even if you’re not going to the gym every day, there are many different ways to stay active and grocery shopping is one of them. Here are a couple of fun ideas you can use to turn your next trip to the grocery store into a workout.
Skipping the Cart
If you’re not planning on doing big shopping, replace a cart with a basket, and use it to give your biceps a workout, switching it from one hand to the other.
Another trick you can use if you’re not doing a week’s worth of shopping is simply going to the store on foot. In addition to helping you burn some extra calories, it’s also good for the environment.
If you’re going to the store by car, don’t park right in front of the entrance. The farther you are, the more steps you’re going to make during your grocery shopping adventure.
Carrying the Bags
Your grocery store workout should continue once you get home. Skip the elevator and don’t carry all the bags at once. Climbing up with one or two bags at a time can be great training.
