While it may sound strange, one of the biggest ways you can damage your body is by not doing anything with it at all. Naturally, this makes exercise essential. Here are some of the biggest dangers you could face if you don’t commit to exercise on a regular basis.

Bad Moods

According to research, prolonged periods of sitting down without moving around and getting active can cause your mood to drop. Naturally, this got even worse during the pandemic lockdowns. By sitting for a long period in front of the TV or other forms of idle entertainment, your central nervous system will get riled up, thereby amping up your anxiety.

Disease

Your risk of cancer can go up if you live an inactive lifestyle. According to research, around 30 to 40% of cancers can actually be prevented by positive lifestyle changes including higher physical activity. As explained by the National Cancer Institute, chronic local inflammation can cause DNA damage that leads to cancer. As a result, it’s best to get moving.

Memory Fades

By sitting idle for too long, your brain health can also suffer. In fact, the more time you sit around without being active, the higher your risk of suffering dementia. Even if you do work out daily, make sure to walk around and remain mobile even at work so that you don’t waste away in your chair in front of a screen.
