We’ve all been there. We’ve gotten all revved up and excited over the fact that we’re about to start working out again. We have our schedule all mapped out, we have our reps in place, and most importantly—we bought ourselves a brand new set of workout clothes. But is it really necessary to buy all that new stuff? After all, it’s not like you can’t exercise with your random t-shirt and shorts lying around the house. Here’s what we have to say on the matter.

It Does Help

You may not need the new exercise clothing, but it certainly does help. There are clothes and shoes that are geared specifically towards enhancing your performance, so while it might not be crucial—it’s still helpful if you can afford to invest in it.

Psychological Edge

There’s something about buying new workout clothes that encourages us to actually go out there and exercise. Sure, we always had the power and ability to do certain workout routines before we bought the clothes. But if getting the clothes gave us a “reason” to actually start doing the work, who’s to say that that’s a bad thing? Results are what matter, regardless of the ways we got there. In other words, go for it!
