Starting your own home gym is a pretty big step, but you shouldn’t go all-in right away. Some common workout machines aren’t such a great investment, and you should think twice before getting one of these three.
Treadmill
If you’re in the mood for a run, you can always do it outside, in the fresh air, with no distractions. The treadmill is too pricy to buy if you’re just starting your gym, and it doesn’t offer a lot of versatility since you can burn more calories on other machines.
Leg Extension Machine
Buying a leg extension machine may give you a motivational boost to never skip a leg day, but it’s not good for much else. More functional exercises that require no equipment, such as squats and lunges, will do you more good.
Elliptical
Getting an elliptical for your home gym is quite an investment, but it’s another expensive machine you can do without. Many high-intensity circuit training moves that you can do with no equipment at all can actually give you a much better workout.
