A Brief Guide to Replacing Your Workout Clothes

Whenever you come across a perfect pair of sneakers or leggings, you wish you could wear them to the gym forever, but things usually don’t work that way. Each piece of clothing you’re rocking during your workouts has an expiration date and here’s how to know when it’s time to replace them.

Sports Bra

Sports bras can last 3-12 months, depending on the way you take care of them. Washing your bra weakens its elasticity, so it’s best to wash them by hand and line-dry them whenever possible.

Sneakers

Gym shoes should generally be replaced after 300-500 miles of use, so it all depends on how active you are. If you’re hitting the gym at least three times a week, it’s recommended to replace your shoes every 9-12 months. If you’re more into running and do it on regular basis, you’ll probably go through two pairs a year.

Track Suit & Other Apparel

This one is a little bit tricky since there’s no set date. It all depends on the type of material each piece of clothing is made of, and read the specific instructions on the tag. You should check to see if the manufacturer left any recommendations and follow them to expand the longevity of your gym clothes.
