There are many things that can sabotage your workout, and your outfit is surprisingly one of them. You should be careful when picking what to wear at the gym – not because other people will judge you, but because some pieces of clothing have the power to wreak havoc on your body. Take a look at five items that shouldn’t be a part of your gym attire.

100% cotton clothing

Cotton is usually considered a cool and comfortable option, but it isn’t the best choice for a sweaty workout. This fabric quickly absorbs moisture and it’s always best to skip it when hitting the gym.

Jewelry

No matter how cute it may look, accessory just gets in the way. It’s distracting and can easily be damaged, so you should probably think about removing it at the gym.

Ill-fitting pants

You shouldn’t wear anything that’s too tight or too baggy during your fitness routine. Loose-fitting clothing is a safety hazard and too-tight attire can be pretty uncomfortable.

Heavy perfume

Draw the line at deodorant when you go to the gym. The body heats up and starts to sweat during every workout and the aroma of strong perfumes or colognes only intensifies the smell.

Worn-out footwear

Replace your sneakers with a new pair after wearing them for a long time. If your shoes are not giving you the support you need, your knees and feet might end up hurting more than usual.
