Working out can cause a number of unexpected and expected reactions of the body. Starting with sweating to muscle pain, these are all completely normal. But why do you experience itching when exercising? There are a number of reasons, most of which are nothing to worry about.
There’s Nothing Wrong
Although itching can be quite a dramatic symptom, it can be just the fact that you’re pushing your body hard. When you work out, the blood vessels and capillaries expand and fill up with blood. At the same time, the body recognizes this as an attack and releases histamine. The end result is itching, which is irritating but it’s just temporary.
If you’ve had a long break in between going to the gym you might experience itching after the first few training sessions. You want to take it slow and ease into physical activity.
Allergic Reaction
If you notice itching when exercising, it might appear as a result of an allergic reaction. The causes for this are numerous, but in most cases, it’s a reaction to new workout clothes. Make sure that you’ve washed everything you wear after buying it. Pay attention to the fabrics that cause irritation and avoid wearing them.
