Naomi Watts discussed everything from her beauty routine to workout regimen in a recent cover story for Shape Magazine. One of the topics she touched upon was how her focus at the gym shifted over the years.
The Mulholland Drive star admitted her workouts are more demanding than they used to be because she has to put in more effort and focus on different things – including weight training.
“As you get older, you have to work harder to keep muscle tone, so that’s why I do strength training with weights. Not the three-pound kind but with higher-level weights using barbells. I have a trainer, because I can’t exercise very well if I’m not being instructed,” explained Naomi Watts.
Weight training is not the only fitness routine she uses to stay fit. The Oscar-nominated actress is also a huge fan of yoga, and she also has a Pilates Reformer at home. Watts doesn’t work out on a regular basis solely because she wants to stay in shape, but also because she “loves the feeling of exercising”.
