Environment-friendliness is trending (and, well, just important), and exercise never gets old. But did you ever think there might be a way of actually combining the two? Well, there is: it’s an exercise method called plogging.

Arriving all the way from Sweden, plogging is a combination of jogging and picking up trash. In fact, the word “plogging” is a compound of the word “jogging” with the verb “plocka upp,” which is Swedish for “picking up.”

But plogging has come to include various physical activities other than just jogging! When you plog, you get to pick up waste and help the environment while running, walking, and hiking, with the addition of stretching, bending and even squatting. It’s all very flexible (no pun intended.)

After starting in Sweden in 2016, which is really not that long ago, plogging became popular in other countries as well. People around the world started to understand the great potential in combining exercise with eco-friendly activity. Today, around two million people in 100 countries plog every day!

If you want to give it a try, you can either look for an organization or a Plogging group in your area, or simply start one yourselves. It’s a true win-win situation for everyone.
