Running Outside During COVID-19? Here’s the Gear You Need to Stay Safe

With gyms and studios around the country closed or just starting to reopen, many people have turned to running outside to stay in shape. Running can reduce stress and build your immune system. To stay safe while running outside during the pandemic, make sure you have these pieces of gear.

Hydration Gear

During the summer months, it’s especially essential to stay hydrated. Public water fountains have been shut off, so it’s up to you to carry a water bottle while running. If you don’t want to carry around a bulky water bottle, there are handheld bottles for running or hydration packs.

Waist Pack or Storage Belt

Storage belts will hold your phone, keys, snacks, toilet paper, hand sanatizers, and face masks.

Face Mask or Neck Gaiter

When you can’t maintain a social distance of six feet, face masks or neck gaiters are essential to wear. Neck gaiters are easy to pull over your nose and mouth and they can sit around your neck or be worn as a headband when other people aren’t around.

Running-Friendly Headphones

It’s much more enjoyable to run when you can listen to a playlist or podcast. Make sure the volume isn’t to loud so you can still hear people, traffic, and animals.
