Most people can’t imagine a single day without a nap, especially during the cold and gloomy fall and winter months. Naps can help us relax, reduce fatigue, and improve our mood, but it’s important to follow these three steps if you want to stop them from completely ruining your day.
Short Naps
If you’re feeling moody and disoriented after taking a nap, it’s probably because you’ve been doing it for too long. Try napping for 10 to 20 minutes, because it will be much easier to go on with your day and you probably won’t experience any negative side effects.
Perfect Timing
Nighttime sleep problems are another common side effect of napping throughout the day, but it can be avoided if you properly time your naps. Avoid napping in the late afternoon because it’s highly unlikely your naps will interfere with your sleep schedule this way.
Peaceful Environment
It’s pretty difficult to have a good nap if you’re surrounded by too many distractions. Opt for a quiet and dark place where you won’t be interrupted by anyone or anything. After getting up, give yourself a few minutes to awaken before moving forward with your day.
