With many celebrities coming out with their beauty and skincare brands, knowing the best product and routine to use can be overwhelming. However, after a viral TikTok video of Bella Hadid planting her face in a bowl full of water and ice, many started to hop on the trend. It turns out that ice can be extremely beneficial for skin health and beauty. Here are some reasons to start using ice as part of your morning routine.

Eliminate Puffiness

Using an ice roller as part of your morning routine can help eliminate any puffiness in your eyes, cheeks, and neck and any redness. Using an ice roller is similar to getting a lymphatic massage but in the comfort of your own home. While it may be an icy and uncomfortable thing to get used to initially, the benefits will come shortly after. Ice rolling helps with blood flow, promoting draining fluid in your face.

Reduce and Recover

It is also beneficial if you are looking to reduce inflammation in your face; if you have a pesky pimple that won’t go away, an ice roller is the best to help your skin recover. The combination of blood flowing and the cold application will soothe your skin, reduce redness and increase the speed of recovery.

Working out isn’t just great for your physique, it can also do wonders for your skin. While the main benefits of exercise are often considered to be weight loss or muscle building, the positive effects of regular exercise on skin shouldn’t be overlooked. From reducing inflammation to boosting collagen production, regular workouts can be the catalyst for achieving the clear, glowing complexion you’ve been dreaming of. Read on to learn more about how exercise benefits your skin from the inside out.

Increased Circulation

Exercise boosts circulation and helps the body to flush out toxins through sweat. Increased blood flow delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the skin, which can reduce inflammation and result in a healthy complexion free of redness or blemishes.

Reduced Stress

Stress is a major contributor to skin issues such as premature aging and breakouts. When we exercise, our bodies release endorphins, which are natural mood boosters. This can have a positive effect on our mental health, and, in turn, keep our skin clear and youthful.

Improved Elasticity

Regular exercise stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that are essential for skin firmness and elasticity. Over time, this can keep our skin plump and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

There are so many benefits to regular exercise that it’s hard to imagine it having any kind of negative effect. As long as workouts are done safely and properly, drawbacks are usually minimal—that is unless you’ve got sensitive or acne-prone skin. Sweat and synthetic fabrics can be a recipe for breakouts. Some skincare companies are now formulating products specifically to help prevent them. While specialized products can certainly be helpful, you don’t need to buy any brand in particular to maintain clear skin. Following a few simple steps can help prevent most post-workout acne.

Wash Your Skin Before Working Out

Our pores open up as our face and body produce sweat to keep us cool, so it’s important to make sure to remove anything that might clog them such as dirt and makeup. You don’t need to use anything too strong; even a makeup removing wipe will suffice.

Wear Clean Clothes

If you’re not someone who sweats a lot, it can be tempting to wear workout gear for more than one session to save time, but it’s better for your skin to only wear clean clothes. Washing your clothes between workouts will remove built up oil and bacteria.

Shower Quickly

If possible, shower immediately after you finish working out to wash away any built-up bacteria, dead skin cells, and oil from irritating your skin and causing breakouts.

As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, one of the things we’re most looking forward to is working out outside. There’s a time and a place for gym sessions, but exercising in the great outdoors allows us to enjoy the added benefits of fresh air and sunshine. That said, even on chilly days it’s important to protect skin from the sun’s rays. Not all sunscreens are created equal when it comes to sweat, but there are a few we trust to keep our skin safe during even the sweatiest outdoor workouts. Read on for our top picks.

Supergoop! Play Everyday Lotion

This sweat-and-water-proof sunscreen provides broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection for up to 80 minutes. Its lightweight formula is anything but greasy and contains sunflower and rosemary leaf to nourish skin and help prevent acne. It’s also reef-friendly, so it’s a great option if your workout plans include swimming in the ocean.

Coola Classic Sunscreen in Peach Blossom

For those who prefer a bit more protection, we love Coola Classic Body Sunscreen in SPF 70. It’s made with organic ingredients including antioxidant-rich essential oils and peach flower extract to keep skin smelling fresh and clean.

Blue Lizard Sport Sunscreen

Australian sunscreen brand Blue Lizard’s Sport Mineral Spray is gentle enough to use on sensitive skin, yet strong enough to protect it from sunburns. It absorbs quickly, dries clear, and stays resistant to water and sweat for up to 80 minutes.

It’s pretty obvious that you should be washing your face after you work out because you’ve gotten sweaty and will need to shower anyway. What many people don’t realize, however, is that you should actually wash your face before you work out, especially if you are wearing makeup from the day.

When you work out, your pores open to release heat in the form of sweat. This means that the openings on your face that are already susceptible to getting clogged from makeup throughout a regular day are even more accepting of dirt and bacteria. For clear skin, you need to prevent this from happening whenever possible.

Washing your face before you work out so that it’s clear of all makeup and dirt from the day is imperative to prevent your pores from getting clogged while you work out. In turn, this will help prevent acne from developing during your workout.

If you work out in the morning, you don’t need to worry about washing the day’s makeup and dirt off your face, so this is optional. If you’re a mid-day or night workout person, however, you should really consider it. It might feel ridiculous at first to wash up before you sweat, but trust us, your skin will be so much happier.

Winter is here and our skin is drying out before our eyes. It’s itchy and flaky, and it does not look so pleasant. The cold weather and lack of moisture can irritate the skin. And so can the products you use. If you want to get ahead of dry skin this season, here are a few ways you can do so.

Invest in a Humidifier

A humidifier will add moisture to the dry air to help hydrate your skin. The air is dry in the winter which results in dry skin, so with the help of the humidifier, the air will be more humid and keep your skin soft and glowing. They can also help if you’re dealing with a cold or the flu by clearing out your sinuses.

Skincare

The skin products you use in the summer can sometimes irritate the skin or not work as well in the winter. It’s worth making sure you have a good moisturizer for the winter months that will smooth out those dry spots. Use simple, calming, natural products.

Diet

Consume more healthy fats this winter to contribute to a healthy moisture barrier in the skin. Diet has a huge effect on the condition of your skin, so start increasing your omega 3 and 6 this winter for smoother skin.

Hydration

You might forget to drink water in the winter as you aren’t sweating as much, but it’s vital you drink just as much as you would do in the summer to keep your skin hydrated.

Taking care of your skin after a demanding and sweat-inducing gym session isn’t an easy task, but Alo Yoga is here to improve our post-workout activewear journey. This cult brand recently entered the beauty and wellness scene with its brand-new skincare line.

Alo Yoga describes its vegan skincare line Alo Glow System as a “cutting-edge, clean skincare powered by amla superberries, nature’s most potent source of antioxidants and vitamin C.” Indeed, they’re filled with products that are meant to soothe your skin, replenish moisture, and ease muscle tension after a workout.

The first drop features a total of seven soothing and nourishing products, ranging from facial cleanser and moisturizer to body wash and radiance serum. You can implement them into your post-workout routine or use them on a daily basis, even when you’re not hitting the gym.

Alo Yoga isn’t the only brand to enter the wellness scene this year. Venus Williams’ activewear brand EleVen previously dropped a sunscreen line, just in time for the summer. We’re expecting even more brands will follow suit by putting an emphasis on skincare and try to find a way to connect it to their business endeavors in the world of activewear.

When talking about skin care, most people today tend to focus on the products that are expected to work wonders. While there are some amazing creams, serums, and treatments that will help you achieve that flawless, glowy look, it’s equally important what you consume. We’re not just talking about focusing on healthy food and fresh produce—we’re sure you’re already aware of how important that is. Today we’re listing 5 of the best vitamins and supplements you can take to improve the condition of your skin.

Collagen

Collagen is something our body naturally produces, but over time the amount starts to decrease. It’s important to supplement the natural collagen in your body if you want to look youthful for a long time.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D deficiency is the cause of many health problems, and most people are suffering from it without even realizing it. Unless you actively spend time on the sun and eat foods rich in Vitamin D, like salmon, you probably need to add some more in the form of drops.

Bouillon

Bouillon or bone broth is one of the most important additions to your diet if you want healthy skin. It contains natural collagen and boosts your immunity, which is always a good thing.

Shower ASAP

Getting out of your dirty clothes as soon as possible and showering will prevent dirt and bacteria from clogging your pores, which leads to breakouts.

Wash Your Hair

Make sure you rinse your hair with water to get rid of the salt and sweat and condition it to protect it from the sun. If you want to hold off on washing your hair, the least you can do is wash your neckline and hairline.

Change Your Clothes

Not only is sitting in sweaty clothes disgusting, but it can lead to skin conditions, flare-up eczema, and cause skin rashes and yeast infections.

Drink Water

Staying hydrated is not only important to your body, but it also makes your skin healthier. If your dehydrated your skin can look dull. Have a bottle of water with you and remember to drink it throughout the day.
