The Importance of Having Snake Pose in Your Yoga Flow

A morning yoga flow is one of the best ways to start your day. While you can do a practice like Sun Salutation that has determined poses and order of doing them, you can also mix in other yoga poses that feel right for your body. One of them is Snake Pose that’s great for stretching your back in the morning.

Snake Pose is also known as Sarpasana in Sanskrit. It’s sometimes confused with Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana), and some yogis consider it to be a variation of Cobra Pose.

Both of them are great for your shoulders, chest, spine, back, and abs. The Snake Pose is especially great for the beginning of a practice. It’s versatile and it helps wake up the body, making it easier to move deeper into the practice.

As Ashley Galvin, a certified yoga instructor and Alo Moves trainer, told Popsugar, you can incorporate Snake or Cobra pose in a Vinyasa class. Start with Downward Dog Pose, “step back to Plank, lower through Chaturanga, and then create your backbends with Snake or Cobra Pose before pushing up and back to Downward Dog.”
