The Key to Staying Consistent With Your Goals

Perhaps one of the hardest things to do when it comes to exercising or eating right is staying consistent. We might have succeeded in dieting for a week straight, or perhaps we pulled off a killer workout session one Monday morning. But when we don’t follow it up with steady repetition, it’s not always very effective. So how do we stay consistent?

Welcome the Failure

Now, this might sound a little bit strange of a thing to say. Welcome the failure? What does that even mean? It means that we need to acknowledge the fact that we’re not robots. We can try to program our minds all we want, and we can certainly succeed in our own right. But as humans, it’s natural that we’re going to have a few hiccups down the road.

We need to welcome these hiccups as a natural expression of who we are. If we do this, we won’t get so mad at ourselves when it happens. When we get mad at ourselves, we make things worse by throwing in the towel completely, which is the exact opposite of what we want. Our progress needs to come from a place of positivity, acceptance, and no judgment.
