How to successfully set your fitness goals. 💫 • • Ok guys, so we all have some type of fitness goals – whether your goal is to lose weight, gain muscle, be healthier or perform better – the way we set these goals, matters. Why? – because if we don’t, we will lose focus, we can get frustrated and eventually give up. • • Here I am going to share 3 ways in which you can set a plan for your fitness goals and avoid some frustration. • • 1️⃣ Focus on behavior goals, not on outcome goals: An outcome goal could be “ I want to lose/gain 10 lbs”, but there are a lot of factors that are out of YOUR control with this goal and lets be real, life gets crazy. Instead, you can write down your goal, but look further and write down what specific skills/ behaviors you need for that outcome? For example “ I will eat 3-4 servings of veggies a day” – that’s more specific and its something that you can control. • • 2️⃣ Start small: This goes hand in hand with the first point. You want to start with small steps, even though you feel like you can handle more. Trust me, you want to stay consistent and set realistic goals. – Going from no water to drinking a gallon a day, might be possible for a few days, but eventually you will fall off track • • 3️⃣Focus on approach goals, not “avoid” goals: This is a better way to start changing your diet. As humans usually when we are told we “can’t” do something, we suddenly crave it more… have you been there? This is why this approach goal works, because we are focusing on adding behaviors or healthier options to our routine which in turn will leave less space for the things we are trying to avoid. • • Above all things and I know I sound like a broken record – consistency and patience are key.
