Tips to Runing in the Cold Weather

If you are a fitness enthusiast, running during winter can be exhilarating. Endorphins, vitamin D and fresh air, can improve your mood drastically. There are so many other benefits of running during the winter season. However, it can be unsafe before it is slippery and may expose you to frostbite.

To run outside safely during the winter season, here are some tips:

Massage your muscles

Warm up your muscles before starting to prevent injury. This heat therapy reduces swelling and inflammation of the muscles. You can also opt for a handheld massaging tool before going out to jog.

Cover your hands and feet

These areas are places where we lose warmth so you should keep them covered. Ensure that your toes are covered with good quality socks that wick away moisture. Cotton is a bad idea because it holds in the moisture makes the feet cold.

Warm up indoors

You can use basic moves to warm up before going out. This helps build internal body head. It also lubricates the joints and muscles. Stretch your arms, legs, and hamstrings. You can do some squats, sit-ups, pushups, and lunges.

Layer strategically

Wear an inside layer got moisture wicking that lays tight against the body. You also need a middle layer for insulating and the outer layer to guard you against the elements.
