Virtual Wellness Retreats are Perfect For Yoga Lovers

While traveling to yoga retreats isn’t possible now due to the coronavirus, many companies are offering virtual yoga retreats which allow you to experience all of the special things retreats have to offer like guided meditations, sound baths, and journaling prompts from the comfort of your own home. Bed Stuy’s HealHaus, the BK Yoga Club, and Black Girl in Om’s the Circle are three virtual wellness retreats you should check out.

The New Paradigm with HealHaus

Co-founder Elisa Shankle said the Bed Stuy-based wellness center “was born out of the need for a wellness concept that reflects the collective and allows people to come as they are without any judgements or expectations.” Along with co-founder Darian Hall, on May 30 to celebrate the companies two year anniversary they’re offering an all day virtual retreat with Yin + Zen Yoga, lessons on food that give mental clarity, “Breathe and Groove” session, mindfulness lessons, and DJ breaks.

Recess With the BK Yoga Club

Founders Paris Alexandra and Alicia Ferguson aimed to design a space where people from all backgrounds and of all sizes could feel comfortable.“This series allows you to create joy in these times of uncertainty. Let’s give ourselves permission to pour into self,” Alexandra said. At just $12 per class, they’re offering virtual yoga and on June 27, they’re hosting Recess, a one-day retreat with sound bowl meditations, poetry, art therapy, light yoga, intuitive movement session, etc.

The Circle With Black Girl in Om

Women of color are the focus of this members-only digital community started by Lauren Ash. The Circle is for women of color “interested in investing in their healing and affirming their wholeness. Healing is the intention that propels us toward radical self-love.” Back in April, they started hosting the first five-week virtual retreat and the next one starts up at the end of May. Each week there’s a different theme which has included breaking the shell, setting your intention, expanding beyond limitations, etc.
