Smoothies are considered a healthy meal or a snack because they’re packed with fruits and veggies and therefore provides us with vitamins and nutrients. However, there are a few common mistakes that can make your favorite smoothie very unhealthy, and here are some of them to avoid.

Too Much Sugar

Consuming too much sugar in the morning will cause your blood sugar to skyrocket and it will leave you moody or anxious after a few hours. That’s why you should try adding less sugar or avoiding it altogether if you’re adding high-sugar fruits like bananas.

Not Enough Veggies

The main reason why smoothies are considered healthy is because they’re loaded with veggies. Use healthy greens such as kale, spinach, or arugula to make a nutritious smoothie every morning.

Too Much Fruit

Don’t go overboard with fruits like bananas or mangoes because they’re high in sugar and can cause blood sugar spikes. When choosing fruits for your smoothie try to stick to those that are low in sugar and high in antioxidants such as berries.

Portion Size

Just because it’s considered healthy doesn’t mean you shouldn’t control your portions. Otherwise, you’ll end up consuming way too many calories.
