The summer heat is here for a while and we’re entering the muggiest time of year. Whether you’re sweating from the heat or sweating after a workout, losing all that water can start to dehydrate your skin and the salt can be bad for your pores. To help recover from sweating, here’s what to look for in moisturizer for after you’ve washed your sweat off your face.

For Sensitive Skin

If your skin is very sensitive, you’ll want to give it a little time to recover before applying moisturizer. When you do moisturize, use something oil-free and light, so as not to put too much pressure or irritants on your skin. Some “extra” stuff like antioxidants are okay, but be sure they aren’t ingredients that will irritate you, since sweat is already irritating.

For Dry Skin

On the other hand, if your skin is dry, you’ll want to use something richer and heavier to help it back from being dehydrated. Choose a cream with lots of nutrients, but again pay attention to whether any of them are irritants for you.  It’s especially good to choose something designed for dry skin.

For Oily Skin

For oily skin, as you might guess, you’ll want to make absolutely sure your formula is oil-free. You’ll also want to avoid anything too heavy so your pores are able to breathe.
