Adults should get around 150-300 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise like walking or 75-100 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise per week. If you’re trying to lose weight, walking isn’t the best way to burn calories because you’ll have to walk at a brisk pace for a long period of time to see results.


Running is one of the most popular sports in America and it burns about 2.5 times more calories per minute than walking. A drawback is that running is a high-impact sport and although it helps bone strength and lowers inflammation in the knees, it’s hard on the body.


Cycling can be done on stationary bikes at the gym, at spin studios, along roadways, or on mountain trails. It’s a great mode of transportation and it happens to be a low-impact activity that sheds calories. But, bikes are expensive and so is the equipment like shoes, passed shorts, and helmets. Even joining a spin studio is an investment.
