Guide to Dressing For Outdoor Workouts in the Fall

The clothes you pick for your workout change with the seasons and fall is the trickiest of them all. Proper activewear can go a long way and help you maintain your core body temperature and avoid getting a cold during your training.

Dressing in layers while exercising in the fall is a no-brainer. Your heart rate and body temperature will increase as the workout progresses. That’s why putting on clothes you can easily remove and put back on always come in handy. Don’t forget to keep moisture-wicking materials, such as polyester, on your inner layer.

Put an insulating layer on top of that, and pick wind and rain-repellent materials for your third layer. The top layer is basically a safety net you can use if it starts raining or if you need to warm up, but avoid wearing it otherwise. Bringing along a hat and a pair of gloves is always a good idea, especially during colder months.

Rain is the most annoying part of fall workouts, so it’s important to protect yourself at all costs. In addition to the waterproof jacket, you should also come up with a way to keep your feet dry and bring an extra pair of socks if the weather is volatile.
