When you work out, what do you do with your hair? Do you leave it down or do you put it into a high ponytail? Chances are you’re not taking proper care of your hair when exercising, so how can you have healthy hair while staying active? Here are four tips on how to keep your hair looking and feeling its best.

Don’t Pull Hair too Tight

If you have long hair, you probably tie it into a ponytail or bun before working out to get it out of your face and away from the equipment. When you do this, don’t pull the strands too much and choose hair ties that won’t pull your hair.

Use Protective Products

When exercising outside or in a pool, use leave-in products that have sun protection or ingredients that will protect your hair from pool chlorine and sea salt.

Hats

If you’re going to be exposed to the sun, always use a hat to protect your scalp.

Wash Your Hair

If you work out daily, it’s important to wash your hair daily to get rid of sweat and dirt that’s lingering. Your hair may feel dry from washing it a lot, but you can combat this by using the right products.
