First, it was people dry scooping powdered supplements and now, people are dipping fruit in pre-workout. The trend is taking over TikTok, but is it safe? While it may be popular on social media, here’s what you should know before you try it.

Taetjhi is one user to post a video dipping a piece of watermelon into the cap of Beyond Raw Lit pre-workout powder with the words, “the only way to take pre in the summer”, next to it.

Another TikTokker, Liam Swanson, shared a video dumping pre-workout into chopped watermelon before eating it.”Dry scooping is a thing of the past,” he wrote in the caption, and in the video, he said, “it’s actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be.”

Sure, people are doing it, but is it healthy? Pre-workout is supposed to be mixed with something and usually, it’s liquid. It’s not meant to be eaten on its own. Ingesting powder on its own puts you at risk of choking. Dipping fruit in pre-workout definitely doesn’t have any added benefits, and if anything, you’re losing potential hydration.

In general, if you’re following the recommended serving size of the supplement, it should be fine. So, you need to be mindful of how much pre-workout supplement you’re adding to your fruit—don’t just dump a ton on.
