Naomi Campbell has been ruling the modeling world for decades, so it’s not surprising to learn that her fitness routine looks quite versatile. It even includes the Chinese martial art form of Tai Chi—but how did the famous supermodel get into this activity?

Campbell discussed her love for Tai Chi in a recent episode of her YouTube series No Filter with Naomi, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow. She explained that this practice, which includes the elements of defense training and meditation, became a part of her routine after a trip to Hangzhou, China in 2019.

After noticing a group of women practice Tai Chi at a park, she was impressed by their vitality at an old age. She decided to join in and it didn’t take her long to fall in love with this martial art.

“I really enjoyed Tai Chi. I thought it was gonna be easy, but it’s so disciplined. You’ve got to hold everything, it’s got to be slow-moving. But I loved it—mentally, I loved it,” explained Campbell.

In addition to having general health benefits, Tai Chi can be amazing for stress management, because moving slowly and focusing the mind on the movements can help bring about a state of mental calm and clarity.
