Top Tips for Improving Your Yoga Practice

Is your yoga practice feeling a little stagnant? Now is a great time to make some improvements. Yoga is amazingly beneficial for both body and mind, and those benefits will be even greater if you commit to making these small improvements to deepen your practice.

Be Consistent

Carve out time for your yoga practice at least three times per week. If you can’t take classes that often, be sure to show up on the mat at home. Even if you’re exhausted and your practice just looks like child’s pose for 15 minutes, this will help you to build regular yoga practice into your routine.

Arrive Early

Arriving hot and flustered as the class is beginning is never a good start! When heading to yoga classes, arrive 5-10 minutes early. This will give you time to find a good spot, take a sip of water and get into the ‘zone’.

Use Props

Using blankets, blocks and straps can help make your practice deeper and more varied, and will allow you to make adjustments to suit your own body and abilities.

Show Up for Shavasana

Shavasana or ‘corpse pose’ at the end of your yoga practice is a precious time—make the most of it! It can be tempting to duck out early or mentally return to your to-do list but focus on your breathing and enjoy the restorative benefits of this meditative moment.
