The goal of 10,000 steps a day is often hailed as the golden standard for healthy adults, but a lot of people struggle to reach it. If you happen to be one of them, one of these common habits may be responsible for sabotaging your daily step count.

Sedentary Hobbies

If you spend a lot of time seated due to your work, you should try hobbies that will help you stay on the move. There’s nothing bad about watching Netflix and reading books, but you’ll struggle to stay active in your free time if these happen to be your only hobbies.

One Daily Walk

Do you tend to spend most of your time at home or at work, and only head out for a walk once a day? If that’s the case, you may get tired before reaching the recommended goal of 10,000 steps, so it’s a much better idea to take a few shorter walks if you have enough time.

Too Much Driving

The more you drive, the less you’ll walk, so it’s recommended to keep driving to the minimum if you want to increase your step count. It makes sense to use a car of public transportation if you want to cover a long distance but stick to walking if you’re going somewhere close by.
